This #GivingTuesday falls in the wake of #MeToo's one year anniversary. These past 12 months have been a whirlwind: we have seen more awareness building

than ever before surround the epidemic of sexual violence. But we have also seen some pitfalls: privilege and power taking over the news coverage. It feels like so

much has changed, but in actuality, little has. That's why we want to harness this powerful energy and direct it toward the survivors who need our help.

This year of media coverage has been incredible for awareness building, but has stolen the microphone from those who need it the most. We're trying to give it back.

Awakenings is a small arts nonprofit dedicated to making visible the artistic expression of survivors of sexual violence. Through year round workshops, we invite survivors to try

healing through art making, writing, dance, movement, and soon music. In addition, we aim to educate the public about the reality of sexual assault by cultivating an audience of

advocates and allies to welcome the survivor artwork. We do this by offering public-facing programming such as art exhibit openings, performance events, and a literary magazine.

Donating to Awakenings will support all our programming that helps survivors heal through the arts. It will send a message to

our community of survivors, advocates, and allies that you are willing to fight beside us. It will have a real impact on someone's life.

$50 covers art supplies for an art workshop.

$100 covers the artist statements for a visual art exhibit.

$500 pays the musicians who perform at our concert, Songs of Survival.
